The Beauty of a Story Well-Told: Introducing The Legacy Edit

There’s a specific kind of magic in an object that has been touched by a human hand.

I’ve spent the last few months living with the pieces in our newest collection, The Legacy Edit, and they’ve changed the way I think about my home. In a world where everything feels disposable and "fast," there is something grounding about holding a piece of solid brass that was forged in a fire and etched by a master artisan who has been doing this for forty years.

Not Just Decor, But Heirlooms

When we started Vilása, the goal wasn't just to sell home decor. It was to find those "future antiques"—the pieces you don’t just use, but eventually pass down.

The Legacy Edit is exactly that. It’s a tribute to the Naqashi (hand-etching) and sand-casting traditions of India. When you look closely at the floral relief on the Afsaneh box or the weight of the Zarista stand, you can see the tiny, beautiful "signatures" of the person who made it. No two are identical, and that’s exactly why they’re special.

A Bridge from India to California

People often ask how we balance being a Northern California brand with such deep Indian roots. For us, it’s about transparency.

To give you the most authentic work possible, we ship many of these pieces directly from our artisan studios in India. It might take a little longer to reach your doorstep, but it ensures you’re getting the "real thing" straight from the source.

But, because we call NorCal home, we’re right here for you. Whether you want to text us for styling tips or need a local US return, you’re dealing with our team in California—not a chatbot or a far-away call center.

Starting the Year with Intention

As we step into 2026, I’m leaning into "slow luxury." It’s about buying fewer things, but buying better things. It’s about setting the table with a hand-cast server like the Záhra and turning a Tuesday night dinner into a memory.

I hope these pieces bring as much warmth and history to your home as they have to mine.
